Leicester Fall Physical Education Program

posted Sep 28, 2015, 6:18 AM by Diane Randall

It has been a tough start in the heat. Keeping students active while maintaining hydration has not been easy. Grades 1 to 6 are getting used to a daily warm-up that either includes a quarter-mile travel (takes about three minutes or less) or a series of stretches. Ask your child about the waterfall stretch or the banana stretch. Kicking skills directly related to soccer have been on the agenda as of late. Small sided games of 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 for the 5-6 kids. Ask your K to 4 grader about Fishes-Fishes with a soccer ball or Grand Prix, the race car game. PreK and K's are also spending time practicing the difference between a leap, a jump, and a hop, while moving to a drum beat.

For the 27th year I am providing an after school soccer program. This year’s 4 to 6 grade team includes students from Leicester, Sudbury and Whiting.  Soon we will have new soccer shirts donated by the Sudbury Road Race committee! Our first game is Thursday the 24th of September in Salisbury. We will play an 8 to 10 game schedule, completed by the 22nd of October.

Please remember to have your child in sneakers on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
