School fluoride program:  If your child is participating in the school fluoride rinse program, we have been using up our stock of fluoride and once it is gone the program will be ending.  The department of health has determined that the program is not as effective and well-utilized as they had hoped, so it will be ending this year.  At Leicester, we have just finished up the last of our fluoride in January.  There are fluoride rinses that can be used at home or fluoride supplementation can be obtained from your child's pediatrician.  Visiting the dentist every 6 months is another way to treat your child's teeth with fluoride if desired.
Vision and hearing screening:  All students are being screened for vision and hearing.  The screening should be complete by early February.  If there are concerns, I will call you and send a letter home.  If you don't hear anything, then your child had a normal vision and hearing screen.  Please feel free to call me with any concerns or questions.  I am at Leicester every Monday from 8am-3pm.  Kelly Lu, RN
