From the Principal

Dear Students and Parents of the Leicester Central School,

I hope you have all enjoyed this beautiful summer. The just right mix of sun and rain has made for a fruitful summer for our Vermont farmers. I know I saw a lot of you at summer camp and look forward to hearing from you all, about your adventures during the past weeks. I am excited to begin my second year as principal at Leicester School. Last year, at this time, I was nervous and excited about meeting you all for the first time. This year I am only excited about seeing you all again and working and playing together through the 2014-2015 school year. The school is still in the process of getting ready for students. We have brand new cubbies outside the 3,4 classroom (thanks to Mrs. Coro’s class writing persuasive letters to myself and the school board). We have new book shelves added to the library, as well as painting the main hallway and some of the classrooms. As I am writing this letter, Dundon Plumbing is here working on the girls’ bathroom. (Again, thanks to the letters you wrote!) We have a new picnic table and all three picnic tables have been freshly painted. We have installed an outdoor security camera to prevent vandalism on our playground. All in all, I think you’ll be impressed with the condition of your school.

We are excited to welcome a new para-educator for the Pre-K,K and 3,4 classroom, Jessica Litchfield-Ferrar. We are also welcoming a new librarian, Ruth Bernstein. Ruth lives in Shoreham and has been working at the Shoreham Public Library. I’m sure Leicester School and the Leicester community will embrace Jessica and Ruth and welcome them to our school.

School will begin on Wednesday, August 27th. As per tradition, parents are welcome to our All School Meeting which will begin at 8:00. Prior to that (7:45) we will offer coffee and pastries. The meeting should last about 20 minutes. If the weather permits, we will hold our meeting out back at the Outdoor Classroom.

We all look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Earl
