Our school year is off and running! We are proud to be embracing Expeditionary Learning and cultivating a school that embodies a positive culture. The teachers and students are hard at work persevering through challenging expectations and displaying compassion toward each other. This is a year long process that requires effort and working together.

If you were to walk through the school on any given day you would see students working on a variety of projects. The other day, outside, I witnessed the “release” of newly hatched and tagged Monarch Butterflies. It was an amazing thing to watch the childrens’ faces as they observed this event. Not only were they continuing the learning process, but there was a shared joy between students and teacher. You just can’t replicate this by only reading about butterflies.

Expeditionary Learning has also brought our staff closer together. Having a common goal and helping each other with resources and ideas has unified our specialists, para professionals, and special education teachers. To see books being used on building treehouses and butterflies and art work being displayed complements the expedition beautifully.

I know I sound idealistic regarding this approach to learning, but this is something not only I believe in, but it jells nicely with the goals and direction of the supervisory union. So… if you get a chance, come by and see for yourself or just come by to chat:)

Thanks for all of your support!
